Nowadays wherever you go, you can see children eating sweets or such sweetened food. They are seen eating colas, sodas and chocolates. And yes, parents don’t stop their kids as they can’t refuse their kids demands. But, each and every parent needs to be on alert with their kids dental matters. Even at a very young age, a kid can develop severe dental problems. But, there are experts and dentists who can guide parents to make sure that kids have healthy teeth throughout their life.
It is recommended that a kid as young as one year old needs to have routine dental treatments. Parents need to take their kids to the pediatric dentist pune twice each year. Dentists who focus on children’s teeth are pediatric dentists.
A pediatric dentist specializes more or focuses in dental process of the infants and minor children’s. The specialization is mainly on minor teeth growth and its development, different aspects of a child psychology, how to avoid oral diseases and yes, also specializing pediatric restorative techniques. There are some pediatric dentist pune who deal with special care kids (autistic kids, mentally handicapped kids and cerebral palsy). The foremost aspect for any pediatric dentistry is to instill total trust in the innocent minds of the kids and making the entire dental process fun.
As a parent you need to instill good oral health practice when your kid is an infant. A baby’s teeth can be at high risk for any decay the moment they start to appear in the mouth. As a tooth appears, that is teething, it might make your baby’s gums tender and sore and he or she may get fever. During this time, you need to consult your pediatrician. As milk tooth starts to appear at six months of age till three years of age, your baby’s oral health needs to be administered.
Though sucking is a natural response for a baby, but with extended sucking of fingers can affect the baby’s development of the teeth. Till nine months, you can breast feed and shift your baby from the bottle by 16 months. This is the time, you need to clean his or her teeth with a damp cloth or even with a soft toothbrush once you have fed the baby. However, if you don’t do this, it might lead to bottle tooth decay.
After your baby’s first tooth has erupted, you can use a small soft bristle tooth brush and clean his or her teeth. It is also recommended that you do not use any toothpaste for cleaning your baby’s teeth.
From age one to five years, your kid will learn good oral healthy habits from his or her preschool. As kids this time of age are not clear as how to clean their teeth, you, as a parent, must offer this oral care for him or her. You need to allow your kid to watch how you brush and floss your teeth and you need to do the same to his or her teeth twice daily once the first teeth starts to show. A peas size fluoride toothpaste is enough for your child when he or she learns how to spit after brushing the teeth. Make sure, you avoid buying sugary snacks or chocolates as a compensation.
Dental advice for all kids is to brush their teeth twice a day for at least three minutes and daily diet has lots of fiber and calcium. Moreover, it is recommended that kids drink more water and after eating, rinse their mouth.
